Nitrogen plays a key role in modern beverage production. It is used to displace oxygen from cans and bottles before sealing, to pressurize and rigidify non-carbonated cans (nitro-dosing), and to blanket the product so it has no contact with the surrounding environment and oxygen. This protects flavor, preserves the product, and significantly extends shelf life. Relying on delivered nitrogen — whether in cylinders or as bulk liquid — is costly and creates a dependency on outside supply for a continuous, high-volume operation. For this project, Safe Equip supplied a GN-250 PSA nitrogen generator with a capacity of 155 SCFM at 99.5% purity and an outlet pressure of up to 100 psig. The generator was integrated with the customer's existing 100 HP air compressor already installed at the facility, which kept the project cost down and made use of the plant's current compressed-air infrastructure. The supplied package included a 400-gallon ASME-certified nitrogen process buffer tank, a 400-gallon ASME nitrogen storage tank, and a 400-gallon ASME air receiver tank to guarantee a stable, uninterrupted nitrogen supply to the filling lines even during peak demand. A trace oxygen analyzer continuously monitors nitrogen purity, and a micron post-filter ensures clean, food-grade gas at the point of use. Start-up, commissioning, and on-site training were performed by a Safe Equip service engineer. As a result, MACROCAP LABORATORIES now produces its own nitrogen on demand, eliminating dependence on delivered nitrogen, lowering cost-per-unit, and ensuring consistent product quality and extended shelf life across its high-volume canning and bottling operations.
